Calendar of Events and Other Information

Introduction to Christ Servant Ministry  (All are welcome)

  • October 2017 – There will be an Introduction to Christ Servant Ministry Course taught by Judy Ehninger at LaTrinidad-Emmanuel UMC in Allentown This course needs at least 12 participants and is limited to the first 20 registrations. To indicate interest contact Northeast District Director, Judy Ehninger at ehninger@ptd.net or (Download Registration Form – LaTrinidad-Emmanuel).
  • October 27 & 28, 2017 – There will be a Basic Course taught by Judy Ehninger offered at St. Mark’s UMC in Mount Joy. (Download Registration Basic Course – Mount Joy in PDF).
    Participants in the Basic course must request the recommendation and approval of their Local Church and submit it prior to taking the course. Upon completion of this course and an additional 10 hours of training individuals receive recognition as Christ Servant Ministers. Registrants are required to complete assignments prior to attending.
  • December 1 & 2, 2017 – There will be an Introduction to Christ Servant Ministry Course taught by Judy Ehninger offered at St. Johns UMC at 820 Almshouse Rd, Ivyland, PA 18974. (Download Registration Form - Basic Course – Ivyland in PDF).
    Participants in the Introductory Course must request the recommendation and approval of their Local Church and submit it prior to taking the course. Upon completion of this course and an additional 10 hours of training individuals receive recognition as Christ Servant Ministers. Registrants are required to complete assignments prior to attending.

Advanced Training  (All are welcome)

  • October 27 & 28 – The Speaking 1 Course taught by the Rev. Harold Burkett will be offered at St. Mark’s UMC in Mount Joy. (Download CSM  Speaking 1 - October 2017 in PDF).

  • December 1 & 2, 2017 – A Speaking 1 Course taught by the Rev. Harold Burkett will be offered at St. Johns UMC at 820 Almshouse Rd, Ivyland, PA 18974. (Download Registration Speaking 1 – Ivyland in PDF).

Special Opportunities

  • Tools for Ministry Workshops - Advanced training hours in leading that reflects the length of the workshop completed will be awarded to those who complete a "Request for Credit" form.  (Download Request for Credit Form in PDF)

  • Laity Retreat - advanced training credit will be awarded to those who complete a "Request for Credit" form. (Download Request for Credit Form in PDF).

  • BeADisciple.com – Throughout the year, BeADisciple.com hosts online courses which are approved by the General Board of Discipleship for use as an advanced course in Lay Servant Ministries (i.e. Christ Servant Ministries). These approved courses are designated at their website with the GBOD logo "Learning and Leading." and include the following titles…

    Green Church – Rebekah Simon-Peter
    Growing Spiritually through Daily Discipline – Debra Dickerson

    United Methodist History, Theology, and Practice of Holy Communion

    Individuals registering for any of the BeADisciple.com courses should communicate the necessary information with the conference director, George Hollich to insure that CSM credit is assigned.

Other Events

  • The Wesley Theological Seminary Lay Academy offers 11 online courses covering a variety of topics including Methodist identity, early church history, Christian ethics, interfaith relations, and the intersection of faith and science. Laypeople can earn a certification in Wesleyan Studies by completing six of the courses online, or can choose to take courses individually for personal education and enrichment. All of the Wesley Theological Seminary Lay Academy courses can be viewed at BeADisciple.com.
